March 4, 2004 CPOA Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order 1930. Opening ceremonies, Pledge, Moment of silence.

Minutes from the last meeting. Motion to waive reading of the minutes and accept as published. Duly seconded. Passed.

bulletTreasurer’s Report. Chief Lesser read statement. Checking balance $13,498.21, savings $2,098.27, total $15,596.48. Anticipate about $3,000 from February races.

Committee Reports:

bulletRace. Chief Short reported on February 27-29 races. Many no-shows. Really need to keep commitments. Did over $30,000 in three days, over $20,000 done on Sunday alone. Next race in the fall.
bulletScholarship. Ntr.
bulletPhilanthropy. Chief’s wife in hospital. Sent roses. Received nice letter from Armed Forces Service Center. Mentioned family issues releated to Senior Chief Pat Tamarko.
bulletShip Liaison. Toured USS Kennedy on Tuesday. Reception for the chief only had one chief off USS Kennedy. Several from USS Vicksburg. Chief Starr sent email to CMC of Kennedy. (Copies of email and response included with newsletter mailing.)
bulletCPO initiation. Ntr.
bulletFinance committee. Ntr.
bulletBylaws. Changes approved October 2003 meeting have been incorporated into bylaws. Copy will be made available at April meeting and posted on website.

Old Business

bulletReordering hats and shirts. Need to order more coins. Senior Chief Roy brought paperwork to give to Senior Chief Herrera.
bulletIncorporation moving along. Corrections have been sent to attorney. Should be incorporated by next meeting and ready for next step in 501(3)(c) process.

New Business

bulletChief Short spoke about paying for Chief Bagley’s flight down to work the races. Motion to reimburse Chief Bagley $331.90. Duly seconded and passed.
bulletDiscussion by Chief Powell of need for battle plan for future races.
bulletDiscussion about need to update rosters and include email addresses.
bulletChief Maurice Anderson from the Reserve Center retired on December 6, 2003. Was disappointed by not receiving anything from the CPOA. Chief Larson brought up that he had told everyone. Chief Lesser said that people were polled prior to the Holiday Dinner and no responses were received. Will offer to invite him to next December’s dinner. Special note that Chief Sturm is retiring this year.
