Meeting called to order 1930. Pledge and moment of silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept as posted. Duly seconded and
approved. Reminder - Beginning January 2006, minutes of all meeting will be posted on our
website (http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/). If you do not
have an email address listed in the roster, we will continue to mail you your minutes. We
are currently only mailing to 7 members.
Treasurers Report: Checking $1,279.66. Savings $2,151.37. Have not yet
received race money (approximately $4,750). Chief Short noted that we were not paid for
one of Miami races. Chief Lippincott requested dues to be paid by check. Chief Lippincott
sent letter to all members requesting 2006 dues. Has received some letters back. Also
received letter fro Armed Forces Service Center thanking us for making our $1,000 donation
before the end of the year so that they received matching funds. He also noted that we can
enroll in the U.S. Navy memorials Navy Log without charge now through the end of
July 2006. To enroll, go to www.lonesailor.org.
Committees
- Race Bill ODell will take over. Next race is March 24 26, 2006.
There is a potential activity at Bayfront park, noon to midnight rock and roll concert.
- Scholarship
Chief Tedlow is committee chair. Reminder that applicants need to
send original transcript in unopened envelope. Question if spouse of a child is eligible.
Current wording is member or immediate family.
- Philanthropy
Chief Powell noted card will be sent to Seaman Gonzalez as voted
at last meeting.
- Ship Liaison
We hosted a CPO reception at McSorleys Monday, January 16th
for the USS Leyte Gulf and it was a great success. The USS Wasp, LHD-1, arrived at Port
Everglades February 13th. There is an ALL HANDS reception at Dicey
ORileys on February 14th. We will host a CPO reception at Café
Bluefish on Wednesday, February 15th. Uniform is CPOA shirts. There will be a
special reception on board the Wasp for invited guests only Thursday, February 16th.
Uniform is summer whites or CPOA shirts.
- Navy League
Three members of Coast Guard station Fort Lauderdale, BM3
Chris Valdes, BM3 John Sirven, and MK3 Roberto Ocasio, received the Rescue at Sea Award
for their actions while in the performance of duty on April 30, 2005. Letters were
presented to the CPOA workers at the Winterfest Boat Parade from Chief Daigle: I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere
appreciation to the Retired Chiefs Association for assisting this unit on the night
of 17 Dec 05. This year marked the 34th year of the annual Winterfest Boat
Parade. We greatly appreciate the preparation of the food that was made available for 450
people who viewed the parade from Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale. With your time and
effort put in this event, we were able to up hold the tradition that draws many spectators
that donated over 500 toys for the Dan Marino Foundation. Your assistance is greatly
appreciated by the command and crew of Station Fort Lauderdale and we wish and request
your participation in future Winterfest events.

Chief Lippincott needs to send copy of most recent bank statement
and balance sheet. Secretary will submit annual report.
- Initiation
Chief Viggiano chair.
Old Business
- Boat Parade. Eight members showed up to work the food concession at the Coast Guard
station: ODell, Balcom, Correia, Neary, Malone, Roy, Short, Lesser. Senior Chief
Starr addressed our philanthropy to USCG saying we need to show our support. USCGC Gannet
is planning on having a fishing trip for us.
New Business
- Request for $300 budget for USS Wasp reception February 15th. Duly seconded
and passed.
- CPO Bike information received from Chief Viggiano read. More details at next meeting.
- Motion to change scholarship rules and expand eligibility criteria to include
grandchildren and spouses of immediate family. This motion has been tabled pending
rewording.
- Motion to purchase a plaque thanking Ed Rumin to thank him for his efforts incorporating
our organization Duly seconded and passed. Suggestion to invite him to our annual holiday
dinner.
