Meeting called to order 1932. Pledge and moment of silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept June minutes as posted. There
was no meeting in May. Duly seconded and approved. Reminder - minutes of all meeting will
be posted on our website (http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/).
Treasurers Report: $305.90 check from June 24th fundraiser
activity. $43.00 bill. Savings balance $2,163.85. Checking balance $3650.92. Expect check
from March fundraiser. Motion to accept report as read. Duly seconded and approved.
Committees
- Race Chief Short reported there was fundraiser on June 24th for
Warped Tour. Made about $305. Only had a few people to sell soft drinks. Next race
November 17th 19th. Chief Powell working on rooms. Would like
to have 2 teams of people so folks dont get so tired. Senior Chief Roy suggested
having PO1s work races to help with their package. Chief Vigiano will talk this up.
- Scholarship
Master Chief LaCoursiere and Chief Tedlow have each received one
application.
- Philanthropy
NTR. On hold pending budget review.
- Ship Liaison
USS Nassau LHA-4 arrived for 4th of July weekend. We
had a reception for them at the Wayward Sailor Pub (southwest corner Federal Hwy and
Oakland Park Blvd.). CMC Makowski sent Senior Chief Starr very nice email saying they had
a great time. "Thank you for taking care of us so well. The CO announced that we were
going to return next May, so I hope that all works out and we can. You and the CPOA did a
wonderful job to make us all welcome, and Monday night was great
I have been told by
numerous sailors that Fort Lauderdale was the best place they have ever seen and the CPOs
of Nassau greatly appreciated your hospitality. Yesterday and today have been log days of
certifications that were made easier by your hospitality."
- Navy League
No meetings during the summer. CDR McGuire retires
Saturday. USCG Capt. Maes retires July 14th.
- 501(3)(c)
It is critical that we complete this process or we will need to pay
15% income tax. Ron Roy will review the Navy League budget layout. Suggestion to contact
different accountant to assist with this effort.
- Initiation
Chief Viggiano gave several updates. She will retire January 5th.
Navy Ball will be October 21st at Wyndham hotel in Miami, cost $45. NLUS
involved. SouthCom getting 4 star admiral, COC October 19th. October 13th
Navy Birthday. Have 8 selectees. Training will be every Friay. Will have PT and go back to
reserve center. Will send training schedules and more information. Designing shirts. Need
to send her email with sizes of what we wat. September 16th will be Khaki ball
at Don Shulas in Miami Lakes. Room $93. Will have photographer and music. Getting
pilsner glasses made for momentos. Intends to bring selectees to August meeting. Needs
help with committees.
Old Business
- Scholarship Discussed purpose of new language to have more candidates.
Discussion about membership list. This will not be in effect until next years
scholarship. Should include accredited schools. Motion to table Duly passed and seconded.
New Business
- Pat Bowden had information on 2 potential places for Holiday Party. Pine Island Ridge
Country Club $19 per person. Arrowhead Country club $28.95 per person. Motion to empower
Pat Bowden to commit to Pine Island, Friday, December 8th.
- Motion to approve reception for USS Nassau, not to exceed $300. Duly seconded and
approved.
- Motion to support Khaki Ball with a donation of $250. Duly seconded and approved.
- Motion to extend last date to apply for this years scholarship to July 31st.
Duly seconded and approved.
