Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept July minutes as read. Minutes
were not posted until September 7th . Duly seconded and approved. Reminder -
minutes of all meetings will be posted on our website (http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/).
Treasurers Report: Savings balance $2,168.92. Checking balance $3,000.25.
Received $63 plus $1,873.56 from March races. Have outstanding check of $250 for holiday
party deposit. Completed spreadsheets to submit to CPA for our 501(3)(c). Motion to accept
report as read. Duly seconded and approved.
Committees
- Race Chief Short reminded everyone about the November races in Homestead.
- Scholarship
Master Chief LaCoursiere reported that Logan Lippincott was
selected of the 3 applications received.
- Philanthropy
Question about our ability to donate $1,000 to the Armed Forces
Service Center in Miami again this year. Chief Powell will research whether there will be
matching funds again this year to justify our donation before the end of the calendar
year.
- Ship Liaison
Senior Chief Staff reported the Lone Sailor dedication will be
October 14th on the New River. Uniform will be Summer Whites. USCGC (MEC)
Spencer out of Boston arrived September 5th and the Broward Council of the Navy
League hosted a reception for them at Bahia Cabana. The USS Dewart and the USS The
Sullivans will arrive at Port Everglades September 15th. We will have a
reception for their Chiefs Mess at the Wayward Sailor Sunday, September 17th
and 1900.
- Navy League
Gayle Malone-Neary will be First Vice President for the
Broward County Council of the Navy League of the United States. All are requested to
attend the installation of officers and luncheon in January 2007.

- Initiation
Chief Viggiano said t-shirts are being sold to support the
selectees. The pinning ceremony will be at 1300 on September 16th. Khaki Ball
follows.
Old Business
- Revised wording for scholarship tabled until next meeting.
New Business
- Lt CDR Ozzie Perez-Mayi former chief. Asked if possible to invite him to Holiday Party
as he was an HMC. Motion to invite him as part of retirement ceremony. Duly seconded and
passed.
- Motion to host reception for the Dewart and The Sullivans not to exceed $300. Duly
seconded and passed.
- Motion to sponsor Thanksgiving gift certificates for a total of 6 entities (USCG Station
Fort Lauderdale, USCGC Gannet, Aids to Navigation Team, USCG Station Miami, and 2 for
Navy/Marine Reserve Center) for $300. Duly seconded and passed.
Good of the Order
- The Holiday Dinner tickets are now available, $30 per person. This will be at the Pine
Island Country Club on Friday, December 8th.
- Happy Birthday to Jerry Lippincott.
- There will be a working party to assemble the gazebo for one of our members.
