CPOA meeting was called to order by Gary at 1930.
 
Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence followed by the Sailors Creed.


 

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept minutes as posted. Duly seconded and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: 

Checks outstanding:

Outstanding deposit:  None

Motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Duly seconded and approved. 

Gary acknowledged Chuck, Ron Zas, Gary for making the rescheduled holiday / Chief’s dinner successful.

Committees: 

 

·        Awards – Chief Short - NTR

·        Scholarship – Chief Tedlow, - NTR

·        Philanthropy – Chief Powell –

o   Cards for Paul, AJ, and several others to go out.

·       Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr –

Rick Tedlow providing info.

·        Norm will be doing the invocation.

·        CPOA will be providing the beer for the event. Rick will let us know the final price.

·        50/50 raffle

·        MC: Pam or Al Starr       

·        Uniform: CPOA shirts

·        There’s a hotel near the venue in case anyone would like to stay overnight.

·        Fleet Week – Al Starr (information by Rick Tedlow)

o   Miami Dade college is sponsoring along with Broward navy days.

o   Venue for CPOA reception at the Miami Dade Military Museum with Dr. Attwood (CWO). Much smaller scale. Address: 12460 SW 152^nd Street Miami (Across from the Gold Coast Train Museum).

·        Season – HMCS Billini- NTR

·         CRYC – Master Chief LaCoursiere – NTR

·      VA Liaison – BMCM Chuck Robertson - NTR  

            Navy veteran sleeping on bad mattress. Gary has a queen size mattress and bedframe (lightly used) he’s willing to donate. Gary will coordinate with Chuck.

·        MWR – HMC Rick Tedlow (Information by Chuck)

o   Fleet Week

o   May 7 – Fleet Week Reception at the Miami Dade Military Museum

o   May 11 – Sailors, marines interacting with Young Marines, NAS Richmond Sea Cadets at Miami Dade Military Museum and Memorial

o   May 19 – Bowling at Manor lanes at 1400. $13.50 for 2 games Motion to make it $20/pp and make it a fundraiser. Inviting 1^st classes to the event. Everyone pays $20. Duly seconded and approved.

o   TBA – Weekend cruise on Margaritaville of the Seas out of Riviera Beach.

o   TBA – Labor Day Weekend in Key West   

o   TBA- Reef Fishing - $65 per person – 301 Seabreeze Blvd. Times: 0830, 1330 or 1930

·        Old Business: 

o   Member dues:

o   T-shirt design: Gary has a good rate with a vendor and is extending it to the CPOA.

o   Website re-design: NTR

o   NRC Miami “Dining in” March 30 - Diplomat Beach Resort – Sponsored by NRC and inviting CPOA and NTAG (recruiters). Date has been moved - TBD

·        New Business:

o   AJ proposes fund raiser: Motion made to form a feasibility committee to explore the viability of having an All-service military ball or gala as a fund raiser. AJ will chair the committee.

o   Mike Short: coffee cup with our logo. Roughly $20/mug. Gary is asking about investing in mugs or other items that we could sell over time but having them stored somewhere. Chuck mentioned Scott who gets them done for roughly $12/mug.
