CPOA meeting was called to order by Pam at 1930
 
Pledge of Allegiance followed by the Sailors Creed and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Ron Zasloff Motioned to accept minutes as posted. Duly seconded by Norm Powell and approved.

·       Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr – NTR

·        Fleet Week – Al Starr (information by Ron Roy)
Fleet week tentative dates are April 22 - April 29 which is a week after Easter with Ships arriving on
 Tuesday, the Coral Ridge Yacht Club COP Reception needs to be on Thursday April 24
(if possible) provided the dates are firmed up, which should be in the very near future.

·        We are currently looking at four ships a LPD, a DDG, a foreign ship and one other and will change.

 

·        Season – Given by Matt Layton

RC & TAR results are out.

AC/ 8/19 results will be out, expecting a total of 2-3 Selects this year.
Subject to change.

All participants must receive a safety brief and sign a pg 13 statement of understanding.      We'll have the brief/pg 13 available at all events.

·        MWR – HMC Rick Tedlow (Repeat from last month)

o   Rick - November 09, 2024, Naval Academy vs. USF in Tampa - $35ish. Raymond James Stadium – 4201 Noth Dale Mabry Highway. Interest during the July meeting – 9 count. Ron Z+1, Rick+1, Ron R+1, AJ+1, Pam, Maybe Gary. AJ will investigate Airbnb’s. Rick has also provided hotels in the area:

o   Residence Inn - $163

o   Holiday Inn Express - $128

o   Fairfield Inn & Suites - $169

o   Courtyard by Marriott - $183

o   Four Points by Sheraton - $144

o   TBA – Weekend cruise on Margaritaville of the Seas out of West Palm Beach. Additional info for the next meeting.

o   TBA – Labor Day Weekend in Key West

o   TBA- Reef Fishing - $65 per person – 301 Seabreeze Blvd. Times: 0830, 1330 or 1930.

o   AJ - Navy Ball – Possible date: Veterans Day Nov 4th. Four venues are being considered.

o   Rick suggested the Dinner train ride in Sunny Isles or Tampa as a possible venue. Dinner and a murder mystery. Rick will look at dates.

o   Chuck - Holiday Party planning: Tropical Acres commitment – Yes. We do not have to provide a deposit yet, but we will move forward in letting them know of our dates. Possible dates: December 14, 2024. A feasible alternative is Friday, December 13, 2024.

o   Ron Z / Ron R - Possible alternative brought up by Ron Z, – Capriccios Italian Restaurant in Davie. AJ will investigate availability and costs.

 

·        Old Business:

o   Member dues:

o   New website – Daniel Vetan hopes to have something in September.

o   T-shirt design – Gary will send Ron R. the design. Pam will follow up with female shirts.

o   Bowling event with NRC Miami – Chuck, Gary suggested to share costs with NRC Miami

o   Status of bringing the NRC Miami and WPB First Class Mess to attend a CPOA meeting, Chuck Robertson is looking into this.

o   Chuck suggested that we use Cash App for CPOA. Ron R. expressed challenges with Cash App as an Association. Ron will investigate Zelle. Chuck expressed concerns about the new tax consequences of having monies coming into his personal account and then transferred to the Association.

·        Good of the Order:

o   Ron Zasloff mentioned if you have a 10% disability rating, you can get an additional $5000 written off on your homeowners exeptions.
