CPOA meeting was called to order by Pam at 1930
 
Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence followed by the Sailors Creed.

 

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept minutes as posted. Duly seconded and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Checks outstanding:  Check #1141 - $162.00 bowling

$200 revenue - $162 expenses = $38 profit

Outstanding deposits; None

Checking $3745.24

MM $17,241.99

CD $16,621.79

Total $37,609.02

Motion to accept the treasurer’s report. Duly seconded and approved.

Committees: 

 

·        Awards – Chief Short - NTR

·        Scholarship – Chief Tedlow, -

o   1 application – Kelly McGovern – FSU - Psychology / Music Theory GPA 3.5. Granted by Rick Tedlow and committee. Chuck’s granddaughter.

·        Philanthropy – Chief Powell – relayed by Ron R.

o   Various get-well cards throughout the month.

·       Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr – NTR

·        Fleet Week – Al Starr (information by Rick Tedlow) NTR

·        Season – Given by Chuck

·        Possible bowling event with NRC Miami – Chuck

o   Gary suggested to share costs with NRC Miami

·        $190 one-time contribution for a homeless vet.

·        MWR – HMC Rick Tedlow (Information by Chuck)

o   Rick - November 09, 2024 Naval Academy vs. USF in Tampa - $35ish.

Interest during the July meeting – 9 count.

AJ will investigate Airbnb’s.
Rick has also provided hotels in the area:

o   Four Points by Sheraton - $144
 

o   TBA – Weekend cruise on Margaritaville of the Seas out of West Palm Beach. Additional info for the next meeting.
 

o   TBA – Labor Day Weekend in Key West
 

o   TBA- Reef Fishing - $65 per person – 301 Seabreeze Blvd. Times: 0830, 1330 or 1930.

o   AJ - Military Ball – Possible date: Veterans Day Nov 9^th. 4 venues being considered.
 

o   Rick suggested the Dinner train ride in Sunny Isles or Tampa as a possible venue. Dinner and a murder mystery. Rick will look at dates.
 

o   Chuck - Holiday Party planning: Tropical Acres commitment – Yes.
We don’t have to provide a deposit yet, but we will move forward in letting them know of our dates. Possible dates: December 14, 2024. A possible alternative is Friday, December 13, 2024.

o   Ron R - Possible alternative Capriccios Italian Restaurant in Davie.
AJ will look into availability and costs.

·        Old Business:

o   Member dues:

o   New website – NTR Ron R. stated that nothing has been done with the website and Pam will follow up with Vetan.

o   T-shirt design – Gary will send Ron R. the design. Pam will follow up with female shirts.

·        New Business:

o   Ron R. suggested bringing the NRC Miami and WPB First Class Mess to attend a CPOA meeting. Chuck will reach out to both SELs.
Gary made motion – passed.

o    

o   Chuck suggested that we use Cash App for CPOA. Ron R. expressed challenges with Cash App as an Association. Ron will look into Zelle. Chuck expressed concerns about the new tax consequences of having monies coming into his personal account and then transferred to the Association.

·        Good of the Order:

o   Gary, old id cards will no longer be used. Gary will send Ron info and Ron will post info on getting updated ID cards on the website.

Motion to adjourn: Duly seconded and passed at 2045.
