CPOA meeting was called to order by Pam at 1930
 
Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence followed by the Sailors Creed.


 

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept minutes as posted. Duly seconded and approved.

o   Birthday cards to various members and a Wreath with card was sent to Joe Verderber’s family on behalf of the CPOA upon his passing.

o   Norm’s wife will be sent a card from Rick on behalf of the CPOA

·        Fleet Week – Al Starr -  NTR

Gary reminded the mess that it was agreed to share costs with NRC Miami

o   Navy vs. USF – November 9, 2024

o    

o   Bowling: Chuck discussed having the Selectees, NRC and CPOA share a bowling outing at Manor Lanes. Tentative date of September 22. Selectees’ costs as motioned previously will be split by both the CPOA and NRC Miami.

o   Navy Ball – AJ: Possible dates are being considered. The venue has been chosen: Quadomain (Hollywood Beach)

o   Chuck - Holiday Party planning: Tropical Acres commitment. Deposit of $150 has been paid. $50 per person: Chilean Sea Bass or Filet Mignon: Cash bar at the table. December 14, 2024. 1800 for passed Hors D’oeuvres and 1900 for dinner.

Uniform: Khaki

·        Old Business:

o   Member dues: New cycle begins in January.

o   Updated website – Vetan, in August, re-expressed interest in helping with the website re-design. Pam is the lead on connecting with Vetan.

o   Pam will follow up with female shirts once the design is approved.

·        New Business:

o   Gary made a motion requesting to spend no more than $100 for new t-shirt artwork. Properly motioned, seconded and passed.

o    

o   Rick made a motion requesting $500 donation towards the NAS Richmond Sea Cadets for Shark Tagging. Properly motioned and seconded and passed.

o    

o   Chuck accepted being the Cash App conduit until December 31, 2024. Zelle nor Cash App will not be able to be used.

o   Andrew made a suggestion to have a CPOA meeting at the NRC. He wants to wait to integrate the new CO on October 12 and proposes a March meeting at the NRC. Motion is not passed at this time as Andrew must first confirm with NRC.

·        Good of the Order:

o   9/11 ceremony onboard the USS Constitution

o   National POW/MIA Recognition day – Third Friday in September

o   Gold Star Mother’s Day – Last Sunday in September

o   VFW Day = 29 September

o   AJ and Christina went on the Margaritaville cruise and reported that although it is, in fact free for military member and partner, the costs are similar to other cruise lines. It was approximately $650 for the 3 day cruise.
