CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION PURPOSE:

To establish within the Naval community of Miami, Fla., a fraternal organization of senior enlisted personnel for the purpose of:

A. Improving the welfare,morale and working relationships of all personal assigned to the Naval community of Miami, Florida, and to improve the functioning of the various divisions by providing all possible assistance and cooperation which can be rendered to the command in carrying out its assigned mission.
B. Passing of useful information to all members.
C. Solving any inter-service, inter-departmental problems on the E-7 through E-9 levels.
D. Providing for the various social activities of the association.

Minutes from the January 8 & 9, 2000 meeting.

The meeting was held at N&MCRRC Miami and was called to order by the President, Chief Bowden at 1636 and 1134 respectively.
The pledge of Allegiance was performed and a moment of silence was observed for our fallen shipmates.

RMCS White is currently identifying his future charity requests.

New Business:

HMC Camagong requested CPOA participation in the form of funds for the next "Health Fair". The funds will buy refreshments and snacks for the volunteers.

Master Chief Peschke's retirement is scheduled for February 13, 2000. The Uniform of the Day is whites. Contact Chief Bowden for details.

Announcement of the picnic at BMC Bowden's home was made. It starts at 1500 until all the food is gone. Bring a BIG appetite.

The President Promises to update the social roster.

SOQ/SOY selection : five names were submitted for SOQ and three names for SOY.

Selected for SOY was BM1 (SEAL) Steven B. Nelson of SPECWAR.

Selected for SOQ was AE2 Mirelsa Caraballo of MSC/Southcom 108.

One SOQ write-up was disqualified because the member is an E-3 vice the E-4 and above requirement.


Picnic Bash:
The Bowden's put on an excellent party on January 22nd.  The food was outstanding and the weather perfect. A great time was had by all.
