CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION PURPOSE:

To establish within the Naval community of Miami, Fla., a fraternal organization of senior enlisted personnel for the purpose of:

A. Improving the welfare,morale and working relationships of all personal assigned to the Naval community of Miami, Florida, and to improve the functioning of the various divisions by providing all possible assistance and cooperation which can be rendered to the command in carrying out its assigned mission.
B. Passing of useful information to all members.
C. Solving any inter-service, inter-departmental problems on the E-7 through E-9 levels.
D. Providing for the various social activities of the association.

This was changed by the president due to a conflict with the April Race.

Minutes from the March 1, 2001 meeting.

The meeting was held at the VFW Hall Fort Lauderdale, FL. And was called to order by the President, CTOCS Starr at 1935.

The pledge of Allegiance was performed and a moment of silence was observed for our fallen shipmates.

QMC Lippincott read the minutes from February 1, 2001. Second and Passed with one change, adjournment time corrected to state 2000 instead of 1800.

Treasury Report is as follows:
Savings:      $3705.72
Checking:   $5444.68 
Petty Cash: $   17.00

Total:         $9150.40

Outstanding bills are as follows:
$300.00 for the W.W.II Memorial
$$$ Flags for Navy Sea Cadets.
A CD of $3000.00 will be set-up for the future scholarship account.

Treasurer's report accepted.

Associate dues will be $10.00

Fleet week combined with Shell Air and Sea Show on May 5,6, 2001.     Broward Navy Days asked the CPOA to host a party for the ships in port on May 4, 2001.   Time will be 2000 hours till closing, Uniform is Khakis.

BMC Short: Plaques for SOY and outgoing President would be ready by Aprils meeting.

TMC Reve: Iron on shirts that he wore. $8.50 or $9.00 dollars for pocket t-shirts.   Names collected by TMC Reve for shirts.

Reve: Presented Association fund raiser, need to review. Internet based.

Motioned for CPOA to adopt fund raiser program, Second and passed.

Ms Reve: Attended DAV meeting with 2 NSO service members in Fort Lauderdale 1105 NE 13 Street.  March 13 & 14 from 1000-1800. 2 NSO from Saint Pete and Reps from the VA Med. Ctr. 954-761-1200 (all health care questions)

Mike Short has TV’s for sale through a service provider. Top brand name available.

Mike Short motioned for the CPOA to donate a TV to the Broward Veterans Retirement Home up to the cost of $1000.00 Second and Passed.

                   For the good of the order:

Stan: covered medical TRI Care program.

Neary: motion for VFW $100.00 donation. Second and Passed.

Al Starr:  CPOA Past President Pat Bowden was called front and center, Al Starr thanked him on behalf of the association for last years devoted service.  The CPOA presented him with the official HYMN.

 Motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 2040. Second and Passed.
