Big issue tonight is that tonight is not part of the indoc but we will have a brief from the CT but we cannot mess with him. Because of active duty message, might not have first meeting until August 13. MCPON also said that we could initiate on September 13, pin on September 14th. Mike Bagley said he can change the date at the PBA hall. Discussion. Motion to hold initiation on 13th, pinning on 14th. Per MCPON, "if the 16th of September falls on a Saturday or Sunday in any year, commands are authorized to hold these events on the Friday immediately preceding 16th of September fall on a Monday, the naval reserve force and any command with an underway date or command activity scheduled that would preclude the events on that day may conduct the events on the Friday immediately preceding 16 September or any date thereafter. Passed. Other instruction that non Navy personnel cannot attend without permission. Paul has already requested permission. Paul brought up that the most senior chief is singularly responsible and accountable for the CPO selectee training. With that in mind, no drinking before or during the indoc. Suggested selecting a master at arms capable of ousting anyone causing a problem. As Jerry said we are going to follow the rules, impart knowledge, and have fun. Robbie brought up the initiation committee met, had disagreements, and have come together. Bagley brought up that we will follow the rules. Tim brought up that he will not be present that weekend. Motion to have Ernie Master at arms during the indoc. Discussion. Ken asked if he is to order the packets this year. Approximately $40-50 per year. General information that we have budgeted $500 for the initiation. Question about the dates. Gayle will send out a notice to Ray for a special mailing describing the rules about the initiation. After meeting, CTT Cassucci addressed CPO mess regarding the Liberty and the Pueblo. Had an essay of the salient events in history. Also had examples of actions taken by chiefs during these events. The somber mien of all persons present during this address proves that these events have a great deal of meaning even today.
