Meeting called to order 1930

Minutes from Previous Meeting: Mailed. Motion to accept as published. Passed

Treasurer’s Report / Membership Report: $8580.93 total, new deposits $357.60. New total $8938.53. Two checks have not cleared. No outstanding bills. Motion to accept treasurer’s report. Passed.

Committee Reports

RACE: October 4,5,6, downtown Miami. Need approximately 10 each day. Expect a large crowd. November race still on. We will need about 30 people on Saturday and Sunday. Will be 4 days (Thursday thru Sunday). Lee Palfrey is the contact for the volunteers. Will stay on base for this race.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE. No report.

PHILANTHROPY. Chief Kinsells wife passed away. Last Thursday, emergency meeting to send $100 to American Cancer Society and flowers. Motion. Passed.

SHIP LIAISON. – USS Bulkley October 4^th. May be a conflict with races. USS Leyte Gulf will be in October 11^th for the Navy birthday.

FINANCE: No changeBYLAWS: no report.

INITIATION. three September 11^th chiefs that weren’t initiated last year and are willing to be initiated this year. Moved pinning back to 2p.m. Need volunteers for stay over Friday night. Ceremony will be on the 21^st. Mike has talked to the PBA hall about the rules and times. Question about roles. Who can be the judge.? Question about selectee Davis and whether he will be initiated. Concern from Al and Ron. Al will contact Sr. Chief tomorrow to determine what is going on. Discussion.

Dinner. Annual Holiday dinner December 5 at Steak ‘n Ale on Sheridan just west of I95 20/person. Salmon, Prime Rib, or Chicken and a separate room.

Web site. Ron Roy demonstrated. How to access and navigate from the homepage

Cruise report. Selectee Friday on Sea Escape. Had 31 people on board. Had a fantastic time. Motion to waive expense for Ernie and wife because unable to attend due to active duty commitments. Question about someone named Donny Covington who didn’t show up. This person owes the association for the cruise. 15 members paid. $894.40 total cost.

New Business

Dinner. Annual Holiday dinner December 5^th at Steak ‘n Ale on Sheridan just west of I95 $20/person. Salmon, Prime Rib, or Chicken and a separate room. Tickets will be available at next meeting. Have guaranteed 40 people. Will need to pre-pay.

Nominations – first round. Stan read responsibilities. The following were nominated: Treasurer – Ron Roy. Secretary – Robbie. Vpres – Norm Powell, Tedlow. Pres – Tim Neary. Nominations will be opened for second round at next meeting.

Recommendation for recognition for 2 ships coming in October. Suggest beer bust at Freddy’s or Blue Fish. Motion to spend up to $300 for each. Al will research details.
