Chief Petty Officers Association of Miami
Meeting called to order 1732. Pledge, Moment of Silence.
Reminder of the loss of the USS Liberty and 34 sailors lost 1967.
Introduction of Guests. CWO4 (SKC) Bruce Ullmer, USCG. Active in youth baseball. Highly recommended for membership.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting: Minutes taken by Norm Powell. Member given copy. Motion to accept as amended. Duly seconded and passed.
Treasurers Report/Membership Report/Finance: Need to redo current signators for the account. $11,780.50 in checking. $2,069.69 in savings. Total $13,850.19. 33 paid members. Two outstanding items: check to HM3 and bill for coins $307.00. Motion to accept. Duly seconded and passed.
Committee Reports
Race Committee/Fund Raising: Mike Short will be the chair. Need about 30 people per day. Mike will give the exact dates. Thursday need 12, remaining need 30 days. Rooms need 5 on Thursday, 12 on Friday and Saturday. | |
Scholarship Committee: Chief Tedlow has graciously offered to be the chair. We do have an application. Members include Chief Bagley, Chief LaCoursierre, Chief Powell. Final decision will be June 30. | |
Philanthropy Committee: Thank-you letter from the Armed Forces Service Center. Note from Edna about those stuck at the Airport forwarded from someone who really appreciates what we do to assist. | |
Ship Liaison: Tim Easter spoke about Fleet Week. Thank you from Rear Admiral Brown for the CPO participation. Bravo Zulu from Admiral Natter. Hope to expand public visitation next year. Spoke about how hard we had to fight to have a reception. Resounding success. Special thanks to Mike Short for bringing out his grill for the athletic events. Gave several examples of how well everything went. Hope to bring in a carrier and a sub next year. Will probably see more ship visits beginning this fall. Bravo Zulu to Chief Mike Short for all of his hard work. Chief Bagley and Palfrey were instrumental in setting up the hall and helping with the cooking. | |

Bylaws Committee: Members need to review bylaws first draft. |
Old Business: Cruise dates. Chief Bagley needs full name and date of birth in order to arrange the cruise. Reschedule to June 20. Chief Short noted that Chief Bagley is leaving and we need to have a party. Motion by Chief Palfrey to have a cruise on June 20th. Amended to have individuals pay and we sponsor an open bar. Suggestion to have a limit on the bar tab. Amended to limit of $500 subject to an amendment ad hoc of $200. Duly seconded and passed.

Good of the Order: Information about retirement age for reservists.
Website has not been updated. Needs to have someone familiar with FrontPage. Chief Short volunteered.
Special Recognition of Chief Mike Bagley for his years of service to the CPOA. He is moving to North Caroline and will certainly be missed. We awarded him a plaque and a boat full of goodies. Mike gave a very moving speech.
June 21, Chief Atwood inviting MIUW chiefs at John U. Lloyd park at 1500. They evidently need some support from us. Discussion.
