Thursday, August 5, 2004

Meeting called to order 1930. Pledge and moment of silence. Due to absence of President, Vice-president, and Treasurer, members present decided to have an abbreviated meeting. Chief Neary presiding.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept as sent. Duly seconded and approved.

Committees:

Race – NTR
Ship Liaison – Chief Staff read letter of thanks from British NATO task force.
Scholarship – 2 applications received.
Initiation – To be discussed after meeting.

Old Business

501(3)(c) – Have sent about half of the information to the CPA. Waiting on remaining information from Treasurer.

New Business

There will be a Habitat for Humanity in January.
There will be a 60^th Anniversary of the Battle of Leyte Gulf in November. Motion to support the Navy League endeavor. Duly seconded and approved. Motion to pay for the hotel room of the Command Master Chief, Kelly Schneider, from the USS Leyte Gulf at the Sheraton Yankee Trader, $69 per night plus 11% tax, about $230. Duly seconded and approved.
The Holiday dinner and retirement ceremony will be held December 2 at the Grand Palms Country Club, cost $20 per person. RSVP no later than November 30^th.

Motion to adjourn 1950. Duly seconded and approved.

Special Announcement

The South Florida Federal Community in collaboration with local emergency food assistance organizations in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties will be sponsoring a food drive from 13-24 September. The goal is to assist these emergency food organizations in their efforts to eradicate hunger in our communities. If anyone would like to bring items in at our September meeting, Master Chief Fagenbaum will collect them and turn them in when the event starts.
