Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Change Senior Chief Staff to Starr. Motion to accept as sent with correction. Duly seconded and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Checking $8,762.33, Savings $2,102.35.

Special announcement: Saturday, September 11 will be change of command ceremony for new command chief of Reserve center. Command Senior Chief Schwarz leaving. Chief Powell sent letter to YNC Chandler.

• Race – November 17-21. Discussion about need for volunteers. FOP lodge #91 would like to supplement. Coast Guard chief association would also like to help.
• Ship Liaison – Vella Gulf, CG-72, will arrive October 4^th and depart 8^th. There will be an all hands reception sponsored by the Navy League October 4^th at Café Bluefish on the beach. We are planning something with the Chiefs Mess on the night of our regular meeting, Thursday, October 7^th.
• Scholarship – Selected Jasmine Brinson.
• Initiation – Master Chief Robertson will be in West Palm Beach for ceremony. Recommendation that this should no longer be a CPOA function since it requires Active Duty of SELRES participation.
• Philanthropy – Letter to Armed Forces Service Center. Plaque has been ordered. Sympathy card to Chief Lippincott for the passing of his mother-in-law. Chief Lesser’s wife had surgery.
• 501(3)(c) – Waiting on forms from treasurer.

• The Holiday dinner and retirement ceremony will be held December 2 at the Grand Palms Country Club, cost $20 per person. RSVP no later than November 30^th. Retirees include Sturm, Anderson, Petrovske, Schwarz.
• Vella Gulf Reception October 7^th. Motion by Chief Neary to set aside $300 to cover cost of reception. Duly seconded and approved. Uniform of the day for us is CPOA shirts.
• Next meeting will need nominations for next year.
• Chief Short made motion that he would like us to be out of the Initiation business. Suggestion that we should be in a supportive role. Discussion. Chief Hererra noted that while times are changing, this would better be voted on when more members are present. Motion to table. Duly seconded and approved. Many passionate opinions expressed.

Good of the order: Chief Lesser spoke about the Initiation. This will be discussed further next month under old business.
