Meeting called to order 1933. Pledge and moment of silence.

Guests. Mack Madzinski for the Lone Sailor Project. (See attached.) Spoke about
this as part of Navy Memorial. 7-8 statues throughout nation. Fort Lauderdale council
sponsor. Will be on Riverwalk, Esplanade Park. Goal $234,000. Have collected $131,000 so
far. Also spoke about July 10th Florida Marlin game event.
Minutes from the Previous Meeting. Motion to accept as amended. Duly seconded and
approved.
Treasurers Report: Savings $2,133.38, Checking $8,187.73, Total $10,321.11.
Motion to accept the report. Duly seconded and approved.
Committees
- Race Chief Short said there will be night races in November, dates November
17th 20th. Has not resolved issue of money pending.
- Scholarship
Have received one application.
- Philanthropy
Chief Tedlow is still asking everyone to give him dates of
birthdays and anniversaries so that appropriate cards can be sent. We awarded a $250
donation to the Miami Airport Armed Forces Service Center. International CPOA commander
passed away. HM1 in hospital; we will send him a card. Received letter from Trojan
Battalion thanking us for our gift and plaque. (See attached.) Suggested family outing for
CPOA members.
- Ship Liaison
Senior Chief Starr spoke about change of command for USCGC
Gannet. USS Halsey DDG-97 will be here June 9th-12th. All hands
party will be June 10th at Café Bluefish 1800. Chief Petty Officers reception
will be June 11th at McSorleys 1900. Future ships include USS Gettysburg,
USS Theodore Roosevelt, and USS Austin.

Everything turned in but have had to re-submit our balance sheets.
- Initiation
Chief Schuchman has spoken with SouthCom and WPB. We will provide
support. Active duty will need to take the lead. They can ask us for assistance.
Old Business
- Chief Powell presented Chief Lesser with photo.
New Business
- Lone Sailor project Senior Chief Staff made a motion to support this project
with a donation of $1,000. Duly seconded and passed.
- Trojan Battalion support
Senior Chief Herrera made a motion to give paper
certificates next year and the balance in cash. Since this will not be until next year,
the motion was tabled.
- Armed Forces Service Center
Chief Powell attended event. Question about
whether we want to continue with our present level of donation or increase. Discussion.
Consensus to leave amount as it is.
- Ships visits
Motion to support a reception for the incoming ships, USS
Halsey $350, USS Gettysburg $350, and July 4th battle group $900. Duly seconded
and passed.
- Naval Special Warfare foundation
Chief Edson, former SEAL, would like us to
consider this foundation for a donation. Will bring more details to next meating.
For the good of the order
- Senior Chief Starr said there is a Submarine Sailor Association that meets at the VFW.
- Tom Hammersmith is moving to Atlanta.
- Chief Palfrey is moving to Tallahassee. 4657 Nesting Trail, Tallahassee, FL 32312, Lee.Palfrey@fwc.state.fl.us.
- Chief Cohen has a new email at lorrcohen@aol.com.
- Chief Edson has a new address at 142 Sausalito Drive, Boynton Beach 33436, johnedsonsl@aol.com.
