Meeting called to order 1938.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting:  Correction to August minutes:  Chief White moved that members could reimburse the association when they are unable to attend fund raising events in the amount that they would normally raise.  It was noted that this is normally about $100 per person for the races.  Duly seconded and passed. Motion to accept minutes as amended.  Duly seconded and approved.  Reminder – minutes of all meetings will be posted on our website, http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Savings balance $7,217.33; checking $4,240.17.  Motion to accept treasurer’s report as given.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Committee Reports:

• Race Committee – Chief Short reminded everyone the next race is in November.  Will need names of attendees next month.
• Scholarship – Recipient Vanessa Lippincott.
• Philanthropy – NTR
• Ship Liaison and Navy League – Senior Chief Starr presented picture of USS Bainbridge signed by the captain.  Plaque from USS Nitze.  Entire mess was present at our reception.  Plaque from Navy League for our support of Lone Sailor project.  Had email from MCPO of the Coast Guard, Skip Bowen, who said he now uses our phrase “anchors are forever”.
• Initiation – Introduced selectees who had cooked dinner.  No longer called initiation.  Is now induction.  Induction to be at Miami Reserve Center Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 1400 to Friday the 21^st.  pinning at Reserve Center Friday, September 21, 2007 at 1400.  Khaki Ball at Sheraton Yankee Clipper Hotel (1140 Seabreeze Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33316, phone: 954-524-5551) September 21^st 1900-2400. 

Old Business:

• Holiday dinner preparations – We have been given December 7, 2007 at the CRYC for our dinner.  Motion to hold this at the Elks Lodge in Pompano due to the cost.  Duly seconded and passed.  Will look into hotels close in case some members don’t want to drive home.

New Business:

• Historian – Chief Tedlow will be in charge of this committee.
• Khaki Ball – Motion to underwrite this event with $500.  Duly seconded and passed.
• Holiday season gift certificates – Motion to fund this for Southcom, 2 for reserve center, 1 each for Coast Guard station Opalaka, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.  Duly seconded and passed.

Good of the Order:

• Senior Chief Larson – Shift Colors spring issue has information about “Safe Harbor” which aids injured military.  Will have more information at next meeting.
• Point of information – legal now for hand salute to salute the flag by veterans out of uniform.

Motion to Adjourn 2102.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.
