Meeting called to order 1930 at Sea Cadets Building. Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Treasurer’s Report: Chief Lippincott submitted
written report: savings balance $5,270.35; checking balance $6,877.86. Have 2
outstanding checks total $266. Duly seconded and approved.
Committee Reports:
Race Committee – Chief Short said we sold about $30,000 of product. Need to gear up for November race which is our biggest. | |
Scholarship – Need names for nominations. Qualifications are on website. | |
Philanthropy – Reminder about April Habitat for Humanity function. | |
Ship Liaison and Navy League – Senior Chief Starr reported on Fleet Week plans. Sent message to CMCs. MCPON will be here for Friday VIP reception on board the Iwo Jima 1800. Will do colors at CPOA reception at sunset. | |

Fleet Week Chief Petty Officers Reception – Senior Chief Roy committee chair. Meeting notes from April 2nd: Present: Joe Millsaps, Ed Rumin, Ken Brown, Paul LaCoursiere, Robin Viggiano, Gayle Malone. The current roster of ships expected include the USS Iwo Jima LHD-7, USS Carter Hall LSD-50, USS Vella Gulf CG-72, USS Mitscher DDG-57, USS Ramage DDG-61, an attack sub to be announced, and the USCGC Reliance. Al Starr and Ron Roy will work together to come up with SOE for reception. Collected $5,000 in donations from CRYC. Discussed various functions during Fleet Week. Presentation by Master Chief to the club went very well. Paul will contact Sara Vathauer to see about getting copy of DVD. Gayle will contact Barbara Priestman to discuss decorations (gotchacovered@aol.com, 954-647-1359). Barbara’s group will greet Chiefs, hand out raffle tickets, give wrist bands to non-uniformed attendees, and help stuff bags with the t-shirts. Hope to have bags early to prepare and identify sizes by color. Gayle has collected several hundred in donations of restaurant gift certificates to use at the raffle. Ed has several boats who have volunteered to offer rides to groups of chiefs. Will try to collect this information closer to the actual date. Some yachts mentioned include Gotcha Covered, Somethin Fun, and Glory Days. Identified other expenses (wait staff, food, drinks, key chains). Discussed media coverage and hiring professional photographer and/or videographer. |
Old Business:
· Starbuck Project from Chief Jim Baldwin: Chiefs need to contact him about this. Put ship pictures in various Starbuck locations and customers can purchase coffee packages to donate. Need volunteers to contact managers. This has been approved by corporate. Managers would receive a special coin. Ends at Fleet Week. Volunteer would bring donated coffee to ship or reception. New Business:
Holiday dinner – planning for December 5th.
Will be at Pompano Elks Lodge as last year’s. |
