January 2008 Meeting Minutes

Thursday, January 3, 2008

Meeting called to order 1930. Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting: Motion to accept minutes as posted. Duly seconded and approved. Reminder – minutes of all meetings will be posted on our website, http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/.

Treasurer’s Report: Chief Lippincott not available Reminder that dues should be paid for 2008, $20 for members, $10 for associates.

Committee Reports:

	Race Committee – Chief Short noted Indy races will be in March. Everyone needs to plan now to assist.
	Scholarship – Chief Tedlow not available.
	Philanthropy – Chief Powell not available.
	Ship Liaison and Navy League – Senior Chief Starr will be installed as first vice-president of the Broward County Council of the Navy League of the United States on January 20^th. Reservations can be made by going to bcnl@yahoo.com. Leyte Gulf visited December 4^th. USS Gonzalez cancelled January visit. There will be a ship in February 9^th. Fleet Week will be the last week in April.
	Initiation – NTR

Old Business:

Proposal for new meeting site – Suggestion to use as an alternate site or perhaps once per quarter. Master Chief Robertson moved that we make VFW permanent site and retain the Sea Cadet building as an alternate site. Duly seconded and passed.

New Business:

	CPOA Reception for Fleet Week at Coral Ridge Yacht Club – Suggestion to set up committee to begin planning. Committee members will be Robin Viggiano, Al Starr, Ron Roy, Tim Neary, Gayle Malone, Paul LaCoursiere, Dave Cohen. Gayle will set up initial meeting. Committee will be responsible for planning reception as well as donor recognition.
	Membership committee – Chief Viggiano would like to set up membership committee. Members will be Rick Tedlow, Chuck Robertson, and Jerry Lippincott. They will be responsible for reviewing the roster and looking into events for members.

Good of the Order:

	Special thanks to Master Chief LaCoursiere for setting up the Elks for our Holiday Party. A great time was had by all.
	Chief Powell sent flowers to Patricia Bowden. She is home now. Pat is still in Kuwait.
	First Class Petty Officer from Southcom was victim of hit and run while jogging.

Motion to Adjourn 2010. Duly seconded and unanimously approved. Next meeting is February 7, 2008.
