August 2009 Meeting Minutes

 Meeting called to order 1946 following introduction of 5 selectees.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept April minutes as posted.    Duly seconded and approved.  Reminder - minutes of all meetings will be posted on our website (http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/).   

Treasurer’s Report:  Savings balance $5,317.83.  Checking balance $13,180.25.  Motion to accept report.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Committees:

• Race – Chief Short reported next races October 7^th-11^th and November 18^th – 22^nd .   Explained to selectees.
• Scholarship – Explained to selectees.
• Philanthropy – Explained to selectees.
• Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr reported USS Comfort reception successful.
• Initiation – Meet and greet at NOSC Saturday.  Pinning September 18^th.  September meeting spaghetti dinner.  Khaki uniform of the day for Navy chiefs.

Old Business

• Holiday party still being researched.

New Business

• Thank-you letter read from NOSC for our $500 donation to Family Preparedness Day.
• Navy Ball – Requested $500 donation.  October 17^th at Signature Grand.  Dress blues.  Motion duly seconded; 19 ayes, 3 nays.  Motion passed.  www.miaminavyball.com. 
• Chief Drago reported Knights of Pythagoras mentoring network back to school fundraiser.  $20 purchases backpack of supplies.  Thanked members for individual contributions.  Turkey run for bikers November 22^nd.

 Good of the Order

• Master Chief Pedersen presented plaque to thank CPOA for support.
• Chief Lippincott’s father passed away.  Thanked CPOA for flowers.

 Motion to adjourn, 2058.  Duly seconded and passed.
