November 2009 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order 1940.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Special Notes:  2010 Memberships dues should be paid to Jerry Lippincott as soon as possible.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.    Duly seconded and approved.  Reminder - minutes of all meetings will be posted on our website (http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/). 

Treasurer’s Report:  Savings balance $5,323.20.  Checking balance $10,030.33.  Outstanding check of $831.41.  Motion to accept report.  Duly seconded and approved.

Committees:

• Race –  Chief Short reported 37 workers at October race.  Chief Lippincott reported discrepancies in inventory.  Discussion about best way to handle this.  Recommendations included  cash box for anything over $20, watch bill, drink-only line, one person in charge of making change.  Chief Powell noted reservations for November 18^th – 22^nd  race need to be done ASAP. Furthermore, rooms only for those who work full days.
• Scholarship –  Need applications for May/June 2010.
• Philanthropy –  NTR
• Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr thanked everyone for condolences on loss of his mother-in-law.  Also reported birth of new grandchild.  HMCS Toronto reception successful.  HMS Iron Duke expected next week.  Hope to have reception at Wayward Sailor.
• Navy League – NTR.
• Initiation – NTR

Old Business

• Holiday Dinner information posted on website.  $25 due to Chief Lippincott.
• Second call for nomination of officers for 2010.  President (Chief Drago and Chief Tedlow), Vice-president (Senior Chief Roy), Treasurer (Chief Lippincott), Secretary (Honorary Chief Malone).  Election will be held at December meeting.

New Business

• Suggestion from Master Chief Robertson to move money to money market account.
• Motion to purchase $50 gift cards (Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale, USCGC Gannett, Aids to Navigation Team, Air Sta Opalocka, and 2 for NOSC)  Duly seconded and approved.

 
Good of the Order

• Chief Neary’s father passed away October 22^nd.
