Meeting called to order 1928.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Guest:  John Martinez, Navy JROTC instructor Braddock High School.  Discussed program and need for scholarships. 

Minutes from the Previous Meeting:  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.  Reminder – minutes of all meetings will be posted on our website, http://www.pes1.com/cpoa/.   

Treasurer’s Report:  Chief Lippincott reported via email checking $10,236.76, savings $1,002.56, money market $10,026.23.  Have received approximately $2,500 in donations.  Motion to accept treasurer’s report.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved. 

Committee Reports:

• Race Committee – Chief  Powell reported many people worked race but need more.
• Scholarship – Chief Tedlow reported receiving one application.
• Philanthropy – Chief  Powell NTR.
• Ship Liaison and Navy League – Senior Chief Starr reported that March 21^st, will be reception on board Caribbean Princess to benefit Wheelchairs for Haiti.
• Initiation – Senior Chief Walker n/a.
• Fleet Week Reception – Had second meeting at CRYC March 3^rd at 1330 at Coral Ridge Yacht Club.  Present:  Ed Rumin, Ken Brown, Dave Cohen, Harvey Cohen, Arthur Drago, Ron Roy, Gayle Malone, Tim Neary, Barbara Priestman, Paul LaCoursiere, Joe Millsaps, Alan Starr.  The reception will be held Tuesday, April 27th beginning 1900.  Barbara Priestman group has identified better way to draw for yacht rides and door prizes.  The winners of the ship rides will be communicated to the CMCs before the actual reception to ensure all details are worked out in advance.  50-passenger bus to transport yacht riders is $475 for 4 hours.              Joe Cantu will provide DJ.  Karaoke and Air Guitar contest big hit.  Gayle has contacted Dave Campbell with Police Pipe & Drum Corps and South Florida Video.  Need posters for the event as soon as possible.  T-shirts have been ordered.  Ron Roy will follow up on posters.  Sea Cadets will do Colors.  Who will be keynote speaker?  Ed will obtain Macy’s bags for gifts.  Based on previous years’ gratuities, check will be given to Ed and Ken a week in advance of the event so they can have cash on hand to pay staff.  Tentative ships scheduled:  Iwo Jima, Porter, Halyburton, Coast Guard cutter, Canadian ship, German Hessen, and a sub.  Next scheduled meeting:  March 31st, 1330 at Coral Ridge Yacht Club.

Old Business:

·        Dues. Must be paid no later than March or price increases.

·        Rusty Pedersen retires June 11^th.

·        Air & Sea Show April 24^th – 25^th.

·        Chief Short discussed $2000 cook trailer.  Will research further insurance and permitting costs.  Hollywood has list of promoters.  Need $1 million insurance policy.
