November 2010 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order 1930.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting:  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.  All items posted on website:  www.cpoamiami.com.   

Treasurer’s Report:  Senior Chief Roy reported money market $10,077.89, savings: $1,005.18, checking: $4,725.33, special event account $408.30, outstanding checks: $1,752.60 (USS Bataan $500, USNS Comfort $500, Elks Lodge deposit $200, coins $552.60).  Motion to accept the treasurer’s report.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved. 

Committee Reports:

• Race Committee – Chief Short reported November NASCAR races 18^th – 21^st.  Need people to take the training to serve alcohol (TIPS training on website and good for 3 years).  If you take it online, it is $19 and you will be reimbursed.  There will be free training in Homestead and possibly at other locations.  All of this information will be on the website.  Chief Powell is taking care of the rooms. Need as many volunteers as possible.  Need birthdate, name, DL; this is a requirement of the track.  Cannot wear tank tops.  Chief Short has new cell phone:  954-394-3573.
• Scholarship – NTR
• Philanthropy – Will do Publix gift certificates for Thanksgiving. Motion to give $75 certicates to USCGC Gannet, USCG Aids to Navigation Team, USCG Station Fort Lauderdale, USCG Air Station Opalocka, USCG Station Miami, and 3 to the NOSC (one active duty, two reserve and one Marine corp.).  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.
• Ship Liaison and Navy League – Senior Chief Starr USS Jason Dunham DDG 109 will be commissioned here November 13^th.  They arrive November 5^th and hope we have CPO reception Saturday, November 6^th at Bravo Italiano Ristorante (1515 SE 17^th Street Causeway), 1900-2100.  Monday and Wednesday are the only days set aside for ship visits.  There may be 4 Canadian ships arriving after Dunham commissioning.  Expect USS Boon FFG 28 in December and Bush battle group in February.
• Initiation – N/A

Old Business:

·       Holiday party – December 10^th at Elks Lodge in Sunrise.  Invitations have been sent out.

• Second call for 2011 officer nominations:  All current officers re-nominated for next year.  Motions to close nominations and accept the slate.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.

New Business: 

• Fundraising:  Motion to do trial run to sell food at local events.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.

Motion to Adjourn 1941.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.
