June 2011 Meeting Minutes

Saturday, June 5, 2011 

Held at NOSC Miami.

Meeting called to order 1700.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting:  Request that previous minutes be read for those in attendance. Treasurer read previous minutes.  Motion to accept minutes as read.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.  All items posted on website:  www.cpoamiami.com. 

 Treasurer’s Report:  Senior Chief Roy reported money market $10,111.27, savings: $3,128.96, checking: $14,473.46, outstanding checks: $500.00. Motion to accept the treasurer’s report.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved. 

 Committee Reports:

• Race Committee –   May have 2 events at Homestead in November:  the air show and a race.  Will discuss potential of partnering with Knights of Pathagorus.
• Scholarship – Chief Viggiano still accepting transcripts.
• Philanthropy – NTR.
• Ship Liaison and Navy League – Senior Chief Starr noted another successful Fleet Week.  Information past to those present who did not make the function in the past.  No ship visits are pending as of this meeting.
• Initiation – Senior Chief Hill reported on the status of weekly conference calls scheduled on Wednesday by NRD.  Senior Chief Hill also stated that he will not be chairing any committees as he is awaiting transfer orders.  If the committee spots become available to the CPOA they will be posted on the website under "Late Breaking news".

 
Old Business:

• Reserve Center Meeting.  Meeting was held with a good turnout.  Suggestion to have one per quarter was received very favorably from those present.
• Report on CPOA 25^th anniversary gala in 2012.  CPOA established in 1987 per the Presidents gavel.  Committee includes Gloria, Drago, Robin Viggiano, and Meloney Roy.

 
New Business: 

• Motion to have a mess party for all South Florida Chiefs between keys.  To be planned within the next six months.  Talk modified for a possible ships reception for the USS SPRUANCE which will be commissioned in Key West, FL 1 OCT 2011.   Duly seconded and approved.    More details to follow.
• Motion for next meeting at the NOSC to be Saturday, September 10th, 2011 at 1700.  Duly seconded and approved.

Motion to Adjourn 1825.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.
