Meeting called to order by Ron Roy: 1933. 

Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:  

Ø     Checking balance:  $ 13,560.96

Ø     Savings:                  $ 3,142.43

Ø     Money Market:       $ 10,187.49

Ø     Total:                      $ 26,890.88

Ø     Ring Raffle funds to date are: $2,254.67

Ø     QMC Stan Lesser Scholarship Fund is at $675.00

Committees:

1. Race – (Mike Short/Norm Powell)

·      Mike thanked everyone who participated.

·      Thanks to Norm for arranging all the rooms. Everyone had accommodations.

·      Need to get appreciation letters made for the FCPOA. Chris Marcello will get names.

·      We do not know amount we made, and we have not received monies.

·      There are still a few stragglers out there needing to get reimbursed for TIPS. Get your receipt in ASAP.

·      Chris Marcello asked if we could see about getting out logo put on the Americrown shirts or on the ball cap. Mike Short will look into.

·       8 Publix Gift Cards for $75 were given out to: CGC Gannet, CG Air Station Opa Locka, CG Station Miami, CG Station Fort Lauderdale, NOSC Miami Active Duty, NOSC reservist, NOSC Marine, SOUTHCOM

4. Ship Liaison –  (Al Starr)

·       Mark your calendars for FLEET WEEK 2013

2.     CPO Reception on 30APR2012

·       USS Taylor is here at the VFW for their “last night ashore”. $300.00 was voted and approved upon via email to put on the bar prior to this meeting. Social will follow our meeting.

5.      Induction –  (AJ Drago/Chris Marcello)

·       NSTR but Ron Roy passed on a lesson learned comment that there should be no distinction from “boot” Chief and a “Chief” as was done will red shirts. A Chief is a Chief.

6.      Awards –  (Dave Cohen/Mike Short)

·       Norm Powell needs to provide names for FCPOA letters for Nascar races as well details for two Plaques for Homestead Inn

·       Plaques for Rick Schuchman retirement and 2 past presidents are done and will be presented on 25^th Anniversary cruise.

Old Business:

·       Mobile Canteen: tabled

·       25^th Anniversary Shirts:  Are available at $20. Each.  Shirts were brought to the meeting

·       25^th Anniversary Cruise: 7-9 DEC 2012

·       Received a note from Cruise line CEO (retired Coast Guard Warrant) to ship’s Captain to take care of the Navy Chief’s and to “watch out for the rum and the women folk”.

New Business:

·       Ron Roy put a motion to make a memorial donate of $100 in Kelley Saulnier’s daughter’s name to mental health. Motion was accepted and passed.

·       July 2013 meeting will be held on the 11^th due to 4^th of July weekend.

  Gayle Malone passed along for AJ Drago that there will be a Christmas gathering at Bravo’s Restaurant (17^th street Causeway in Ft Lauderdale) on Friday, 14 December from 1600-1900. Cocktails and “robust” appetizers only. Uniform: N/A (but please try to wear your CPOA logo shirt if possible).

·       Last opportunity to submit names for 2013 Nominations before taken to a vote.

·       Nominations and results are:

Ø     President: Arthur Drago (5), Rick Schuchman(1), Karen Leonard (8), Rick Tedlow (2)

Ø     Vice President:  Rick Schuchman (2), Karen Leonard (no longer eligible), Norm Powell (9), Chuck Robertson (10), Chris Macello (4)

Good of the Order:

·       RETIREMENT:

1.     Lou Kitchin retires in May 2013 after 33 years of service and will be moving to FT Myers.

2.     Chris Marcello is getting married next weekend (14-16 DEC).

3.     Al Starr introduced Joe Gardner, the CMC of the USS Taylor (Mayport) and his Mess (10 Chiefs present). Al donated a book to their Mess and they presented us a plaque. Despite our vehemently refusal, USS Taylor insisted on giving us $48.00 towards the bar tab.

50/50 Drawing:           CPOA received $11.00 and Bryan from the USS Taylor received $10.00 however he gave back to our Mess.
