January 2012 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order 1930.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence. 

Honorable members present:

Minutes from the Previous Meeting:  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.  All items posted on website:  www.cpoamiami.com. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Senior Chief Roy reported money market $10,140.95, savings: $3,134.58, checking: $5,758.28.  Outstanding checks include #592 for $80, #593 for $40, #596 for 40, and #599 for $2,059.  Total assets $19,033.81.  Motion to accept the treasurer’s report.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved. 

Committee Reports:

• Race Committee – Chief Powell reported that we should receive a check for about $3,500 for the November race.
• Scholarship – NTR
• Philanthropy – NTR
• Ship Liaison and Navy League – Chief LeMarier will be working with Senior Chief Starr on this committee.
• Induction – Chief Marcello reported Chief Gerry Kingsberry from SouthCom a proponent of reserve/active duty separation for fund raising.  Discussion.  Chief Marcello is the liaison.  Chief Drago will be his backup. 

Old Business:

• Cooking trailer acquisition.  Genset needs repair.  Will follow up as details are available.
• Gift card recipient from SouthCom.  Sent email to CPOA thanking us for the gift card.
• Recognition for First Class Mess efforts during NASCAR races.  Chief Powell reported that Gayle had printed certificates and letters which wd a link will be sent.
• Fundraiser for CPO ring.  Chief Viggiano report for PayPal will be set up on the CPOA page.  There are rings for USCG and Marines.  These are the rings from Ahern & Bruchert.  Would like to do a raffle for a free ring:  $25/ticket or 5 for $100.  Suggestion to use CPO birthday.  Motion to limit number of tickets to 400 with raffle no later than October 13^th for Navy Birthday.  Tabled.  Motion to reimburse Chief Viggiano $100 for ticket printing.  Duly seconded and approved.

New Business: 

·       Coral Ridge Yacht Club planning meeting for CPO Reception during Fleet Week.  First meeting will be 1300 January 18^th. Committee members are Chief Cohen, Harvey Cohen, Master Chief LaCoursiere, Master Chief Robertson, Chief Drago, and Chief Schuchman.

Good of the Order:

·       Chief Schuchman retires April 14^th. 

·       Chief Marcello getting married in Key West in April.

·       Gloria Drago is working on a weekend cruise in February.
