Committees:
· NASCAR will be 14-18 NOV so start planning to save those dates to volunteer and start getting names!
· TIP training will need to be redone for everyone online. Cost is approx $40.00 but reimbursable by the CPOA. Ron Roy will put link up on site.
· NEW RULES!!!! Must now wear uniform clothing consisting of: black PANTS (no more shorts…I know…it’s going to make it hot), closed toe shoes, and must purchase a shirt from NASCAR for $4.50. (CPOA to cover cost of shirts).

· In lieu of Norm, Ron Roy reported that Stan Lesser’s Memorial Service Wreath was beautiful and cost $170.
· Ron reminded us that funds must be rotated out every three years as we cannot bring in over $50K in donations w/o a lot of paperwork involved.
· Reminder that we support on a quarterly basis:
1. Armed Forces Center at Miami International Airport ($2,000/yr)
2. Thanksgiving Dinner for “needy” Sailor/Soldier/Airman/Coastie
· Still looking for new opportunities to support (must support sea services). Ideas were suggested to think about included:
(1) Wounded Warrior Project
(2) New Armed Forces Center at FT Lauderdale Airport
(3) Sea Cadets
(4) National UDT Navy S.E.A.L Museum
(5) Veteran’s Home in Pembroke Pines

· Fleet Week :
1. No incidents reported during Fleet Week!!
2. Looks like USS Wasp will be back next year with the same STRKGRP2 Admiral and CMC so coordination should be reasonably smooth.
3. Broward Navy Days does not foresee any ship visits till possibly the Fall.
4. Al mentioned that Fleet Week NY was twice as big as ours but they had no CPOA reception. We are becoming known for the best reception hosts for Fleet Week. Way to go!!!
5. At the CRYC follow-up meeting they acknowledge that the placement of the gift bags in the side room was not a good idea this year and they will ensure next year they are out front again. Additionally, more medium/small t-shirts need to be ordered for CRYC donators and they stated that t-shirts would not be provided to CMC’s to take back to the Chiefs on duty. Little announcements will be made throughout the evening so people do not think the party is over and the yacht rides will not become part of the event as brought up last month as a CON.

Old Business:
· Mobile Canteen: Mike Short has not been up to Tampa in over a month but when he does, he will definitely get with the guy who has the unit.
1. Event promoter is the one who sets the prices for food at their venue as well as participation fees.
· Ring Fundraiser: Still need to know from Robin Viggiano what the ring fundraiser cost is going to be to the CPOA.
· 25th Anniversary Cruise: CANX due to cost. Committee is looking into a 1 day cruise or weekend hotel excursion. See NEW BUSINESS for more input.
· CPOA Coffee Mugs: Paul LaCoursiere will look into.
· USCGC Richard Ethridge Commissioning: Need Chuck Black to provide details ASAP as event is 3 August. CPOA still needs to know donation levels so we know what to give. Uniform is Summer Whites.
· Annual VFW Donation: Ron Roy stated it was completed.

New Business:
· 25th Anniversary Suggestion: Rick Tedlow mentioned that the Hawks Cay Resorts down in Duck Key (towards Key West) has some gorgeous villas that sleep 5-8 and have plenty of activities to participate in. Villas run around $350 a night but if split between people, cost wouldn’t be so bad. To check it out, go to: http://luxurykeywesthotel.com/default.asp?HotelID=96581
· Purchase/Renting of old WWI bldg next to VFW: Mike Short brought up a semi-lengthy discussion regarding the possibility of renting out or purchasing the old WWI bldg next to the VFW so that we had someplace to call our own home and put up our plaques. Al Starr stated it was currently being looked at by the Navy League to purchase and that it currently has American Legion that utilize it 2x a month and that he uses it for Sea Cadets as well (he has a key). The bldg “owners” rent out the parking lot to the restaurant across the street to earn income when it is not being used. Karen Leonard asked Al Starr if maybe the Navy League would be willing to share the bldg/co-own with the CPOA. Al stated he would look into it. It is a 501(c) 3 facility (tax free). The bldg is assessed at $350K but maybe we can get it cheaper.
· Tim Neary’s burial at sea: Was attended by AJ Drago, Ron Roy, Chuck Robertson and Al Starr. Roy had the honor of putting his ashes to sea. Karen Leonard was asked to make a Thank You letter to the USCGC GANNET (WPB87334) as well as one for the NOSC for their assistance in Stan Lesser’s funeral.
· Associate Members: Al Starr brought up that both Pat Hughes and Gloria Drago should be given an Honorary Associate Member status to the CPOA for all their work they do behind the scenes for us as well as waive their dues. Motion was seconded and approved.
· Motion for a donation: Mike Balcom made a motion to have $500 donated to the National UDT Navy S.E.A.L Museum. Motion was seconded and approved. Rick Tedlow also stated we should make a trip up there. Link to site is here: http://www.navysealmuseum.com/
