October 2012 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by Ron Roy: 1938.  Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence. 
 

Officers:

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:  

Ø     Checking balance:  $ 15,223.34

Ø     Savings:                  $ 3,141.12

Ø     Money Market:       $ 10,179.85

Ø     Total:                      $ 28,544.31

Ø     Ring Raffle funds to date are: $2254.67

Ø     QMC Stan Lesser Scholarship Fund is at $575.00

Ø     Motion to accept Treasurer’s report.  Duly seconded and approved.

Committees:

1. Race – (Mike Short/Norm Powell)

·      NASCAR will be 14-18 NOV

·      TIP training will need to be redone for everyone online. Cost is $40.00  (reimbursable by the CPOA). Link is up on site.

·      Norm sent input via email that rooms must be booked by 12 OCT and that he will go down in NOV to submit the names.   

·      Sign up to volunteer on website- Norm/Mike/Ron will see.

·      NEW RULES!!!! Must now wear uniform clothing consisting of: black PANTS (no more shorts…I know…it’s going to make it hot), closed toe shoes, and must purchase a shirt from NASCAR for $4.50.

·      AJ will be signing the contract and will ask about the purchasing of extra t-shirts (since wearing a dirty shirt is unsanitary).

·       Dave stated he didn’t get Karen’s email with periods of Presidency. Karen will send to Mike Short.

·       Need an award for Rick Schuchman for his retirement.

·       If anyone is going to retire before 7DEC, let Ron Roy know. Send him your dates of enlistment.

Old Business:

·       Mobile Canteen: Still no contact

·       Armed Services Center, FT Lauderdale: Broward Commission turned down the request to have an Armed Forces Service Center at their airport.

·       25^th Anniversary Cruise: 7-9 DEC 2012

§       PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WILL SERVE AS OUR 25^th Anniversary cruise AND our annual Christmas party.

§        ROOMS ARE ALMOST SOLD OUT!!!!!

§       So far only 7 people (and guests) have signed up.

§       Gift Bags will be given out.

§       Button down Shirts will be purchased special for the 25^th Anniversary Cruise and will be free to those on the cruise.

§       Celebration Cruise Line

1.     $139.00 pp. (INCLUDES port fees and taxes and all meals).

2.     Gratuity ($12 per day)  and alcohol cost is separate.

3.     Flat rate parking for $15.00 a day.

4.     Departs from the Port of Palm Beach at 5:30pm, must be onboard by 1600. Lunch being served onboard from 1200-1600.

5.     Single rooms can be booked for $218.

6.     Summer White dinner will be Friday the 7^th in the Crystal Restaurant @ 1930.

7.     IF onboard Saturday, lunch will be @ 1230 in the Trattoria

8.     Dinner on Saturday is @ 1930 in the Rio Restaurant

9.     Ship departs Bahamas at 1700

10.  OPEN BAR will be Saturday night @ 1900

New Business:

·       During “NIGHT OF”, members were charged $10. To eat and $10. to play. Those members present voted that the CPOA should pick up the tab and that it should be brought up at OCT CPOA meeting to make this a permanent decision. Vilma R. made a motion to make it permanent and Chuck R 2^nd the motion. Motion was PASSED.

Good of the Order:

·       RETIREMENT:

1.     Lou Kitchin retires in May 2013 after 33 years of service and will be moving to FT Myers.

2.     27OCT they will be having a party at Station Miami Beach @ 0900. We are invited.

3.     Tiffany Anderson lost her grandfather this week and is flying to New Orleans over the long weekend.

4.     Arnie (via Ron R.) wanted to bring up fronting bill for Sea Cadets to go on a boat trip. Will table till NOV meeting as Al Starr was not there to discuss.
