Meeting called to order by Chief Karen Leonard: 1930

Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:   Senior Chief Roy reported $1,600 in outstanding checks. Current balances:  Checking $10,063.72, Savings $3146.36, Money Market $10,210.36.  Motion to accept Treasurer’s report. Duly seconded and approved. 

Committees:

·       Race – (Mike Short/Norm Powell) – Chief Powell reported only upcoming race in November. Looking for help with berthing.

·       Chief Powell reported no local chapter for Wounded Warrior.  Flowers were sent to MAC Saunier’s mother.  Navy Safe Harbor specifically for Navy.  Master Chief Kitchen suggested sponsoring a swimmer for a fund raiser to benefit children of those killed in action.

·       Senior Chief Starr reported on fleet-less Fleet Week.  Had half page ad in Broward Navy Days sponsor book. SOY and Enlisted POY will be next Friday, $25 at Pier 66.  UOD summer whites.  Had fallen soldier dedication last Friday night.  Mary Ann from BND thanked CPOA for support.  Next year’s Fleet Week will be April 27th – May 5th.

·        Induction –  (AJ Drago/Chris Marcello)

·       NTR.

·        Awards –  (Dave Cohen/Mike Short)

·       Chief Powell has been unable to contact Ms. Allen.

Old Business:

·       Ring will be presented Friday.  (NB:  due to weather, ring presented Saturday.)

·       Events for year:

o      June Bowling at Manor Lanes, Sunday, June 23rd beginning at 1300.  Manor Lanes Bowling and Sports Den Pub. 1517 NE 26th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305 (954) 566-7457.  $3.00 per person/per game. CPOA will pay for 1st game and shoe rentals for all paid members.  Families invited but must pay for all games and shoes.

o      July fishing.  Chief Tedlow reported on several options.  Majority prefer Saturday, July 13th, 0830 Sealegs Drift Fishing. 

o      August 8th David Alan Grier at Seminole HardRock.  @2000 Improv at the Seminole Hard Rock Café.  CPOA will buy the drinks for paid members. Members only buy ticket(s). Guest must pay for ticket and drinks.  Deadline is 15JUN to sign up with Ron.  Must pay for ticket after 15JUN if you cannot go.

o      Key West trip needs more information.

o      NASCAR November 15th – 18th.

o      December Holiday Cruise.  December 6th – 8th.  Motion to change dates to January.  Chief Leonard will research.

o      Dinner cruise. Motion not to have this.  Duly seconded and approved.

o      Holiday dinner party.  Suggestion for Tropical Acres or Capriccio.  Will try to set up a Thursday dinner December 5th or 12th.

New Business:

·       Operation 300 to benefit children of Wounded Warriors so they can go to camp.

Good of the Order:

·        RETIREMENT:  Lou Kitchin retires June 7, 2013 after 33 years of service and will be moving to FT Myers.  Retirement will be at Station Fort Lauderdale.  Summer Whites.

·        Southcom Navy Ball October 11th on Windridge Yachts.

·        Thank-you from Chief Salnier.

·        Senior Chief Larson reported he had to put his mother in hospice.

·        Suggestion that because of Chief Viggiano’s work on the ring raffle, deserved some recognition.  Motion to give her a letter of appreciation and pay for her holiday dinner. Duly seconded and passed.

·        Rich George made HMMC.

·        Chief Drago requested assistance with NOSC.
