Meeting called to order by Chief Karen Leonard: 1930

Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:   Senior Chief Roy reported checking balance $23,655.56; savings $3,154.25; money market $10,256.14 with total $37,065.95.  Fleet Week brought in $27,899.24 with $12,015.11 in expenses leaving a profit of $15,884.13.  Motion to accept report duly seconded and passed. 

Committees:

·       Race – Chief Short reminded everyone race is November 13th – 17th.  Remember to register on the web site.  Free room if work more than one day.  Asked if there is a flyer we can send out.  Chief McTee will create one.

 

 

·       Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr attended retirement ceremony for Master Chief Pomeroy and Captain Keegan at USCG Air Station.  Received email from Command Master Chief about our Fleet Week Reception saying it was best reception ever.  Only negative comments:  might want to reconsider dancing girls and liquor at Hard Rock reception.  After action meeting said everything top notch.  Next year will coincide with New Orleans War of 1812. Expect 4 ships, sub, and Canadian ship. Senior Chief Starr also nominated to be chair of Broward Navy Days.

 

·       Induction – Chief McTee reported on Phase II.  Camp Elmore (75&595) will be site rather than Punta Gorda.  $8/person/day. 150 acre park with shower and restroom facilities.  Need campers/tents if staying.  Monday, September 15th final test.  Pinning Tuesday.  Also need people during weekend.

 

·       Awards – NTR.

 

Old Business:

·       Bowling May 18th great activity.  Vizcaya cancelled.

·       Other events:

§       July 12th fishing

§       August 1st Chief Leonard retires.  Ceremony at Southcom at 0900.  Dress blues with medals for participants only.  All others CPOA shirts or khaki.

§       August 16th Flamingo Gardens.  Cost is $15.00 or if group 15+, we can get group tour with narrated tram ride ($4 savings).

§       September 20th SEAL UDT Fort Pierce.  Cost is $8.00 with CPOA paying half.

§       October 18th Xtreme Indoor Karting.

§       December 4th Holiday Party

§       Cruise – Suggestion to have Holiday cruise in January, probably the 16th.  Chief Leonard will check rates and dates.

New Business:

·       Sea Service Vets Assistance committee.  Motion to create a committee duly seconded and approved.  Will use our funds to assist local Sea Service Vets.  Master Chief Robertson will ask Carolina of Impact Broward to come to a meeting.  Chief Tedlow will chair this outreach program.

·       Scholarships.  Motion to increase the number of scholarships to UPTO three per year duly seconded and approved.

Good of the Order: Marlins games. Ira Paul and Karen Leonard birthdays.  Ron Roy and Buck McTee anniversaries.

Motion to adjourn:  2041.  Duly seconded and passed.
