Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Website: 

Updating website to have updated functionality to automate event rosters, allow for on-line payments, upgrade, and streamline the site.  Please see www.cpoamiami.squarespace.com to view the test site.

Treasurer’s Report:  

Senior Chief Roy reported:

Checking balance                 $ 13,886.85

Savings balance                   $3,159.55

Money market balance         $ 10,287.43

Totaling                              $ 27,333.83 

 

Donations for Fleet Week event have totaled approximately $16,300.00 thus far.

Motion to accept Treasurer’s report; duly seconded and passed. 

Committees:

Race – Nothing to Report.

Scholarship –   Nothing to Report.

Philanthropy – Miami Veteran Hospitality room open.  Researching and need to meet with new Chief and visit Airport facility.

Sea Service Veterans Assistance - CE2 Nicole Leroux lost her home and belongings in a fire.

CPO 365 – Phase 2 Sign-up for committees.  West Palm is doing CPO 365 separate from drill weekends.  Active and Reserve PQS is the same.

COMREL - Nothing to Report.

Ship Liaison – Nothing to report.

Fleet Week – Tuesday, May 5, 2015 All Hands Event. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 limited space boat rides. 

Induction – Senior Chief Ron Zasloff will report to CPOA about this.

Wreaths Across America – Per Chief Drago, planning to add another cemetery.

Awards – Plaque received.  Corrected plaque for Chief Leonard received.

Social Committee – 

1.     Social event, in Pembroke Gardens, at Pines and I-75 at The Pub 1900, March 7, 2015. 

2.     Bowling at Manor Lanes 1500, March 22, 2015. 

3.     Key West Trip April 17-19, 2015; three military lodging facility Gateway Inn and Suites, Navy Lodge, and Navy Inn.  Rebecca at Navy Lodge advised that there is a waiting list for Navy Lodge. 

4.     Fishing trip tentatively scheduled for July 2015.

5.     Chief Paul researching the possibility of changing cruise date to October 2015.

Old Business:

Blimp vendor is no longer available for normal Fleet Week Tuesday event.  Chuck to discuss with Alan Starr about when to reschedule during another Fleet Week event.

New Business:

1.     CPOA sent card to Chief Davis’ family after his father passed away last month. 

2.     Chief Drago - Motion for CPOA to donate $1000 to CE2 Nicole Leroux for Fire Loss.  Duly seconded and passed.

3.     Chief Short – Navy Orchestra and Sea Chanters – Attended event in Hollywood.  Fantastic concert and next year would be a good idea for a CPOA event.    

Senior Chief Roy - Motion for
Meloney Roy as an Associate Member.  Duly seconded and passed.

4.     Chief Oliva – Suggested a separate chapter for CPOA Miami.  Ron Roy advised that because it is a Navy organization it cannot be run as a chapter under the 501(c) 3.  Withdrew motion.

5.     Master Chief Robertson - Tabled idea for later discussion on FLL Hospitality Suite.

Good of the Order:

1.     Chief McTee advised Wounded Warriors Anglers has been chartered in Cape Coral.  Organization is doing a rod building event, and trip to Maine.  Asking for suggestions of wounded warriors to attend. 

2.     Master Chief Schmidt advised:

a.      Katrina Gadson had her baby;

b.     Chief Dre McCray will be retiring; and

c.      YNC Dee Valdez will be retiring. 

3.     Chief McTee advised Chief Oscar Sosa is retiring April 2015.  Event in Fort Lauderdale.

4.     Chief Ali advised re-order of South Florida Pride T-shirts due in next week.
