 Meeting called to order by Chief Christian Echeverria: 1935

Pledge of Allegiance, Sailor’s Creed and Moment of Silence.

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:   Chief Echeverria reported checking balance $4,050.66 savings $3,171.39, money market $60465.47; total $67,467.42.  Motion to accept report.  Duly seconded and approved. 

Committees:

·       Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr reported there will be nine ships this coming for 2017 Fleed Week:  an LPD, 2 cruisers, 2 destroyers, 1 sub, 1 USCG fast response cutter, 2 Canadian ships.  Fleet Week will  begin May 1st, our reception  will be May 2nd and boat ride May 3rd.  There is a possibility the USS Zumwalt will come to Port Everglades in October.

·        CPO365 – Chief Zasloff reported there is full PT tomorrow.  Selectees will host teach back at NOSC  tomorrow and a teach back at the VFW on September 6th.  September 8th will be a dinner at the VFW at 1800, uniform  of the day is khaki.

·       Awards – Master Chief Robertson reported he has plaques for those who helped us from the Coral Ridge Yacht  Club.

·       MWR - Master Chief Robertson stressed need to sign up on the web site in case of cancellations, etc.  Cruise October 28th.  All information is on our web site.  Holiday Dinner will be December  16th at Tropical Acres.

 

Old Business:

·       None.

New Business:

·       Motion to have scholarship selection one month earlier than times currently posted.  Duly seconded and unanimously approved.

·       Motion to host reception for USS Zumwalt DDG 1000 if they arrive in October, not to exceed $400. Duly seconded and unanimously approved.  Secretary will locate a suitable venue.

·       Motion to order a polo shirt with 3 anchors for South Florida Chiefs.  There was a great deal of discussion about how  to replace or include the current CPOA logo as well as using this as a fundraiser.  Motion tabled until next meeting.  Chief Echeverria noted that he is still working on a new coin design.

Good of the Order:

·       Senior Chief Starr said there will be a Pearl Harbor ceremony December 4th at the Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale at 1400.  This is the 75th anniversary.

Motion to adjourn:  2016.  Duly seconded and passed.
