Meeting called to order by Chief Monica Sions: 1930.  

Pledge of Allegiance, Sailor’s Creed and Moment of Silence.  

Reminder it is Pearl Harbor Day

Minutes from the Previous Meeting.  Motion to accept minutes as posted.  Duly seconded and approved.  

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Senior Chief Roy reported two outstanding checks. Check 948 for $400.00 and check 972 for $1000.00.  The Current Checking Account balance is $14,384.95, Savings Account  $3,181.95 and $50,833.57 in the Money Market Account for a grand total of $68,400.47.  Treasurer does not have the totals for NASCAR yet due to a discrepancy from the Homestead Inn. The total should be $3000.00 but they only billed for $2692.00. Motion to accept report.  Duly seconded and approved.  Note that dues are payable now.

 

Committees:

 

Race – Senior Chief Hannahan thanked everyone for their participation. The event generated $93,000.00 and the payment is expected prior to the next CPOA meeting.

Scholarship – Applications are due in July.

Philanthropy –  AFSC remodeled center. Currently looking for donations to purchase a TV, toys and activities.

Sea Service Veterans Assistance. NTR.

 

Ship Liaison – Senior Chief Starr reported Fleet Week will take place 30 April-6 May. The Ships assigned will be the USS Kearsarge in addition to two DDGs, one submarine and a Coast Guard Cutter. The Canadian Royal Navy will participate. Senior Chief Starr also spoke about Pear Harbor Day and encouraged everyone to continue to remind the public about this historical event. Holiday cards were distributed and several responses were received from recipients.

 

CPO365   Chief Benoit announced an event on March 2nd at the Aviation Museum. More details to come.

 

MWR – Master Chief Robertson reported the holiday party is Saturday December 9th in summer whites. The suggested bowling is in January 28th, however, there is a four Chaplain ceremony that weekend. Therefore, the event was proposed for January 14th instead. Key West trip a possibility. Details to be released on the cruise.

      VA Program: Master Chief Robertson read several letters of gratitude from recipients who received assistance.

New Business:

·        HMC Powell - motioned for $1500.00 to AFSC for TV, activities and toys. Amended to $1000.00 for their fundraising efforts. Amended to $500.00. Duly seconded and passed.

·        HMC Benoit – Marine whose mother had surgery is in her support. Motion for $1000.00 to assist with expenses. Duly seconded and passed.

·        MAC Sandoval – Asked if the CPOA would be interested in purchasing a 17 ton anchor to be placed in a local park. A decision will be made upon receiving additional information. Some items for consideration will be transportation cost, location, permits and foundation.

·        HMC Sions proposed to compose a fundraising committee. She will chair the committee unless she has to leave.

·       HMC Powell – Requested two plaques for the Homestead Inn for their assistance. Duly seconded and passed.
